The Music of Spirit and Legend

THE MUSIC OF SPIRIT & LEGEND

Friday, January 25, 8pm

Saturday, January 26, 5:30pm

Mario Venzago, Conductor

Emanuele Arciuli, Piano

Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra

The late “Stands with Eagles” Louis Ballard made it his life’s

mission to illuminate the unique motivations behind Native

American music. The ISO pays homage to Ballard with both

Incident at Wounded Knee and the World Premiere of Indiana

Concerto for Piano and Orchestra, completed posthumously

by his protégé Brent Michael Davids. The mythical tales of

Sibelius’s Four Legends complete the program.

Stay after the concert to hear Mario Venzago (above), Davids

and Louis Ballard, Jr. discuss the life and music of Ballard.
